About the Department

Shalakya Tantra is one of the eight branches of Ayurveda, known as Ashtanga Ayurveda, which deals with disorders affecting regions above the clavicle—mainly the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and throat. The name 'Shalakya' comes from the traditional use of specialized probes (Shalaka) in treatment.

ENT Division

The ENT unit provides treatment for disorders of the ear, nose, and throat through both modern methods and Ayurvedic therapies.

  • Ear wax removal
  • Removal of foreign bodies from ear or nasal passages
  • Ayurvedic therapies: Karnapuran (ear oiling), Nasya, Shirobasti for sinusitis and headaches

Ophthalmology Division

The Eye (Netra) section handles diagnosis and Ayurvedic treatments for various ocular conditions using traditional Kriya Kalpa procedures.

  • Refraction testing using Autorefractometer
  • Funduscopy for retinal examination
  • Tonometry for intraocular pressure measurement
  • Foreign body removal
  • Ayurvedic Eye Therapies: Netratarpan, Bidalak, Anjan, Ashchotana
